Russell Anthony Indovina, age 86, passed away peacefully on his birthday, October 10, 2024. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 1938, Russell lived a life marked by dedication, adventure, and a love for family and the outdoors.
Russell graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in industrial engineering, and he proudly served as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Early in his engineering career, he contributed to groundbreaking work at the Boeing Michoud plant, playing a role in the Saturn V project—a monumental achievement in American space exploration.
Russell’s passion for craftsmanship extended beyond engineering; he was an avid woodworker and contractor who took great pride in creating beautiful pieces and homes with his hands. He also loved spending time outdoors, whether fishing, golfing, or hitting the slopes for a ski adventure.
Russell was the beloved son of the late Anthony Indovina and Emilda Pilet Indovina. He leaves behind his cherished daughter, Robyn Andree Indovina Fitzgerald, and his adored grandchildren, Ian Joseph Fitzgerald and Megan Elizabeth Fitzgerald. He is also survived by his former wife and friend, Rosalyn Indovina, the mother of his daughter, as well as his brothers Richard Michael Indovina and his wife, Juanita, and Randall John Indovina and his wife, Nancy.
Russell’s life will be celebrated by his family and friends, who will remember him as a dedicated father, proud grandfather, loyal friend, and passionate craftsman. His legacy lives on through his family and the memories shared by all who knew him.
A heartfelt thanks goes to family, friends, and neighbors who showed their unwavering support, kindness, and care to help “Pops” remain in his cherished home by the Jourdan River. A special appreciation to Bruce Fitzgerald, devoted husband of Robyn Fitzgerald, whose tireless support and compassion allowed Pops to fulfill his wish of spending his final years surrounded by the memories he loved, alongside his beloved pug.
