Rosalie (Rosie) Rodosta Dugas passed away peacefully on October 27, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. A lifelong resident of New Orleans and a parishioner of Saint Pius X Catholic Church. Rosie was born to the late John Rodosta and Lena Ferrara Rodosta on November 27, 1922. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Melvin Joseph Dugas and her twin sister, Josie Rodosta DiVincent. Rosie is survived by her two loving children John Joseph Dugas (Renee) and Melvin John Dugas, and her beloved grandson John Joseph Dugas, Jr. along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Rosie had a special devotion to St. Ann who would give her strength and guidance in troubled times. Rosie attended Saint Joseph’s High School in New Orleans and still wears her graduation ring. In the mid 1950’s she and her sister were models for the new car unveilings each year at Rodosta Motors, their father’s automotive dealership. Rosie enjoyed the carnival season and loved to attend the formal Mardi Gras Balls. She loved her many travels around the country, and especially enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas, with its bright lights and beautiful hotels. She will be sadly missed by all including her beloved cat, Callie. The family wishes to thank her caregivers Tanya Jourdan and Lena Taylor. Most of all, her daughter in law Renee for the devoted and loving care she provided to our mother. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 1:00p.m. Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 a.m.
