Born July 15, 1942 ~ the Summer of 42’ ~ passed away on July 14, 2024.
Grieve not…nor speak of me with tears…
But laugh and talk to me as though I were beside you.
I loved you so… “Twas heaven here with you”
Quoted from recording of East Village Opera Company.
Robert was the son of deceased John K. La Grange Sr. and Ruby Truxillo La Grange. Robert is preceded in death by siblings John K. La Grange Jr., Mary Aline Schedler Sr. (Warren d.), Arthur La Grange Sr. (Miyoko d.). He is survived by his sister, Magdalen Ingersoll Jr. (Leo d.) and numerous Nieces and Nephews, Great, Great Grand, and Great Great Great Nieces and Nephews, especially Carter John and Gracie Mae Simoneaux who brought him great joy.
Robert was employed for over 60 years in the export and import shipping industry. He joined Funch Edye and Co in 1963 and finished his career with Norton Lily International.
A true New Orleanian, Robert loved everything Mardi Gras. He was always one for a good parade, often running to see it twice. Come Mardi morning, after a huge home cooked breakfast, he’d take to the streets of the French Quarter in full costume that he had designed and made. He loved to cook and he loved sharing his creations with friends and co-workers. He could make a mean King Cake at the drop of a hat. Never one for a car, he traveled the streets of the city on his bicycle until about a year ago. He loved sitting on his porch reading. He’d say his favorite writers were Patterson, Caldwell, Cook, Grisham, Conelly and Evanovich. He preferred the “heft of a book” and had an aversion to E-Books. He was a kind and gentle soul who loved people and would share all that he had. He will be missed.
Per his request there will be no service. His remains will be cremated. Burial will be private.
