Robert loved spending time with his children at his home on the North Shore. He adored each and every grandchild that was born or accepted into his loving large family.
Robert was baptized in the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church and was an active parishioner for over 50 years before moving to the North Shore. He served as Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and he received the Order of the St. Louis Medallion for his service with Holy Name of Jesus Church. More recently he was a member of the St. Benedict Catholic Church in Covington, Louisiana.
Robert was born in 1929 in New Orleans, Louisiana and attended Jesuit High School and graduated from Tulane University. He also attended Loyola University for pre-dental studies and graduated from Loyola Dental School. After serving two years attached to the USAF 2795 Hospital Group he joined Dr. Frank Herbert’s dental practice in Metairie, Louisiana. He later established his own dental practice where he enjoyed treating patients into his late 70’s. Robert was very active in the dental community having served as a member of the Louisiana Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the International College of Dentistry and the American College of Dentistry. He also served as the President of the New Orleans Dental Association and Chairman of the New Orleans Dental Conference.
His most satisfying endeavors were the four medical mission trips taken to the poorest areas of Haiti. Carol joined him on two of these occasions. Upon retirement, he volunteered at Ozanam Inn and the Saint Vincent de Paul’s Homeless Shelter until he and Carol moved to the North Shore.
Services will be held at the Lake Lawn Funeral Home on Monday, May 10, 2021 with visitation from 10:00 to 12:00 and a Mass at 12:00. Relatives and friends may, in lieu of flowers, send donations to Ozanam Inn, (www.ozanaminn.org/bequest.html), Jesuit High School, or the charity of your choice.
