Robert Ernest Berard Sr.

Robert "Bob" E. Berard, Sr. born on January 8, 1939 passed away on Friday evening, December 2, 2016 surrounded by his family. Son of the late Clifford Berard and Dorothy Besnard Nunez. He was preceded in death by his sister Lovejoy Sheeren. Bob is survived by his loving wife Carmen Anthony Berard; and all his children Lisa Brown, Karen (Tony) Lopardi, and Kathy Sampere-Gorman, Robert (Dawn) Berard, Jr., Richard (Susan) Berard, and Randall (Keli) Berard. Also, survived by 13 grandchildren whom he loved and adored Kellie, T.J., Mandi, Katherine, Madison, Evan, Landon, Mariah, Fallon, Matthew, Farrah, Ridge, Justin and his 5 great grandchildren Gregg Jr, Brenton, Dominic, Blaze, and Vincent. He is also survived by his brother Clifford Berard, Jr. Bob was a native of New Orleans and longtime resident of Metairie. Bob was a big sports fan, and enjoyed watching the Saints. He loved to travel with his family and best friends Patricia and Bert Hasselback. Bob was a devoted grandfather who loved spending quality time with his grandchildren. Bob loved his companion dog, "Precious" who never left his side. Bob was a very special husband, father, grandfather and friend and he will be sadly missed. Bob was employed by the New Orleans Stevedores and Member of the International Longshoremen's Association. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to JDRF Diabetes Foundation or The American Cancer Society.
