He was the youngest of eight children born to Edmundo Rostran Bengoechea and Elsa Coe Rostran. Ricardo and his family, moved to the United States in 1979.
Ricardo attended the American Nicaraguan School in Managua, and later attended Valley Forge Military Academy in Wayne, Pennsylvania, where he graduated in 1979. Ricardo subsequently joined the United States Army and was deployed to several countries as part of the Chemical Warfare Division. During his years of service with the US Army, Ricardo received the Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal and the Expert Badge with an M16 Rifle.
Ricardo, affectionately known as "Mikey" to his family and friends, enjoyed fishing, waterskiing and all other outdoor sports. He loved spending time with his family, especially his mother, sharing jokes and watching old movies and tv shows. He most recently adopted a sweet little dog, Archie, who he loved, and who came to fill the void which his previous 11 year old dog, Pecci, had left.
Ricardo passed away in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 22, 2023 at the age of 62. He is preceded in death by his parents and his oldest brother, Alejandro Rostran Coe. He is survived by six brothers and sisters: Nancy R. Heilemann and spouse Nils Heilemann, Elsa R. Spencer, Linda R. Robin, Edmundo Rostran Coe and spouse Gabi B. Rostran, Cynthia R. Meier and spouse William W. Meier, III, Mary R. Trace, as well as by his long-time girlfriend Bertha Torres.
He will be greatly missed. May he rest in Peace.
Service will be on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd New Orleans, LA 70124. Mass will begin at 10:00AM in the chapel. Military honors will be rendered at the conclusion of Mass, with reception immediately following.
