With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved son, Reid Gerard Charbonnet, who was taken from us too soon on July 10, 2024, at the age of 28. Reid was born on March 15, 1996, to Stephen and Helen Charbonnet in Washington DC. Reid was a young and talented artist who loved sharing his art with family and friends. He suffered from depression and addiction for many years. He fought hard to overcome both wanting to live for himself and his family. Through it all, most people saw him with his larger-than-life trademark smile and quickly became accustomed to his witty humor. Reid’s biggest joy was to make others smile, and his mission in life was to help others who felt lost or abandoned. From the numerous calls, texts, and social media posts as well as our firsthand experiences, we know he was extremely successful in those endeavors. We are so proud of him.
Reid is survived by his parents, his sister, Kristen, brothers, Michael and Jake, his grandparents, Robert and Linda Charbonnet and Marshall and Sheila Book. He is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Reid touched are invited to Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA on July 20, 2024. Visitation begins at 11 am followed by the Funeral Service at 1 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation to their favorite charity in Reid’s name.
