Pauline Wright was born May 16, 1925 in Hickory Flat, Mississippi. She moved to New Orleans, Louisiana, and married John E. Stauss, Jr. in January of 1946 and lost him in February of 1999 after 54 years together. Pauline is also preceded in death by her parents, in-laws, two brothers, four sisters, a niece, and a nephew. She is survived by her two daughters Susan and Pamela (Steve Beyda), a brother, a sister, and numerous nieces and nephews scattered from Florida to California.
Pauline worked in an ammunition factory to support the allied forces in World War II and many years at Bell South before quitting to start her family. She volunteered and later worked at Baptist Hospital's Gift Shop as well as the Gift Shop at the New Orleans Museum of Art. Pauline was named Volunteer of the Year several times for her dedication and service. She was an avid gardener and served as Vice-President of Lakeview Garden Club as well as enjoyed flower arranging, ceramics, and sewing. Over the years she served as "mom" or "grandma" to numerous loving pets. She even loved the squirrels, opossums, and raccoons who visited her backyard from time to time, and hand-fed a baby dove she rescued. She had a soft spot for the underdog and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She served as Room Mother and volunteered for various activities during the girls' school years.
Pauline was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Sadly, she passed on Monday, October 7, 2024 at the age of 99. She will be greatly missed.
