Nicolo John Hannan Sr.

Nicolo John Hannan, Sr. tipped his hat one last time as he rode out of life’s arena with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday January 28, 2019 at the age of 76. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and resided in Kenner, LA.

He is the son of the late Frank Thomas Hannan, Sr. and Rosalie Palazola Hannan; brother of the late Rose Marie Hannan, Frank Thomas Hannan, Jr. and John Michael Hannan.

His memories live on through his children, Kelli Ann Hannan Bledsoe (John), Toni Ann Hannan Parkinson (Terry), Nicolo John Hannan, Jr., Barbara Ann Hannan Bonstaff and their mother, Barbara Hannan; Phillip Mathew Hannan, Tyler Donald Hannan and their mother, Donna Hannan; his grandchildren, John Austin and Naomi Bledsoe, Hanna, Abbie and Allie Parkinson, Brittany Williams, Laura Hannan, Braden and Lukas Bonstaff; and his siblings, Elizabeth Baudouin (James), Rosemary Lagrange, Josie Touchet and Patricia Durapau.

Nick began his lifelong career as a Farrier in the City of New Orleans under the mentorship of the late Lawrence T. Leonardi. His passion was horseshoeing and blacksmithing. He was a Certified Farrier with the American Farriers Association and The Brotherhood of Working Farriers Association as well as a lifelong member of the Southern Farriers Association.

At the age of 24 while working at the Monteleone Hotel as a Bellhop he received praise from William A. Monteleone and was presented the City of New Orleans Certificate of Merit by Mayor Victor H. Schiro for his heroic efforts in assisting a score of persons to safety during the April 1966 hotel fire on the 14th floor.

His hobbies included judging rodeos and horse shows, hunting with his sons, grandsons, nephews and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman; hunting alongside his family and friends brought him much joy. Another central part of his life was the time he spent with his daughters; teaching them and supporting them was as important to him as making memories with them going dancing and showing horses.
