Millard was in the U.S. Navy and served during WWII aboard the USS Heywood L. Edwards DD663.
He worked in construction for a number of years and later founded Metairie Cabinet Tops.
Millard is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Annie Mae Pippins Mims, a son Melvin M. Mims, a daughter Catherine M. Hoffield, brothers Paul Mims and John Mims, a sister Velma Mims Robichaux, brother in laws Reggie Robichaux and Lewis Methe and a sister in law Vivian Mims.
He is survived by a daughter Donna M. Boudreaux her husband Dr. Nolan H. Boudreaux, Jr., daughter in law Beth Mims, grandchildren Carolyn Tanner, Collette and Christy Newman, Matthew, Michael (Michelle) and Melanie Mims, Brandon (Heather), Ashley and Chelsea Boudreaux, great grandchildren Miranda and Mary Tanner, Stephanie Tanner Hall (P.J.) and Beau Boudreaux, great great grandchildren Zoee Tanner, Zayden Falgout, Trenton Cagle and Bryson Hall, a sister Bertha Methe and sister in law Florence Mims and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 12 pm in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans. A visitation will be held from 8:30 am until service time and the interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
