Michael E. Rooney, a native of New Orleans, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018 at the age of 62. He was the son of Virginia “Sue” Fucich Rooney and the late Maurice “Moe” Edward Rooney; brother of Peggy Elizabeth Rooney and Donald James Rooney (Sara Guerra); uncle of Erin McLean (Dr. Justin) and Kelly Pearsall (Russell); great uncle of Harper and Logan McLean.
Michael attended St. Matthias and St. Pius X Schools and graduated from De La Salle High School. He received a Bachelor of Science from L.S.U. in Baton Rouge. He taught and coached at Kehoe – France School and Camp in Metairie for 35 years. He also coached at numerous playgrounds in Jefferson Parish. He enjoyed photography, computers, and astrology.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans (in Metairie Cemetery) on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 2:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 12 noon. Interment will be private.
