Mary Rafidi Smith

Mary Rafidi Smith entered into Eternal rest on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8th at the young age of 57 years. She was the loving mother of Julia Lindsey Smith (her miracle child). She was the beloved Wife of the late Carl Smith, Jr. Daughter of Widad I. Rafidi and of the late Jaser Nicola Rafidi, Sister of Nicholas Rafidi, David Rafidi (Holly), and Catherine Rafidi Durr (Joseph), Sister-in-law to Donna Mahrous (Mohamed), Sandy Trumbach (Gregory), the late Debbie Sims and to Brother-in-law Robert Smith (Audrey) and survived by many nieces and nephews. Mary Rafidi Smith was born on September 15, 1958 in Donaldsonville, LA. She graduated from Archbishop Chapelle and attended UNO but then decided to jump into the working world. She began her career at Equitable Life Insurance, then Rafidi Oil and Gas, Inc., and finally, after 26 years as an Administrative Assistant for UNO, she retired last year. She enjoyed her retirement by going to water aerobics, playing pokeno and bunco, and doing her all-time favorite going to the movies. Mary was a wonderful mother and provider to her child. She was a spunky, loving, and kind person to all her family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will begin on Friday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Saturday morning from 8:30 AM until 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum.
