Martha Rosen Sands

A native New Orleanian, Martha was a graduate of Isidore Newman School and attended the University of Alabama and Newcomb College. Martha met and married her husband, Jack to whom she was married for 58 years until his death in 2016.

In addition to raising a family, Martha worked alongside Jack in their businesses including Tavern on the Park Restaurant. She was a lifelong member of Hadassah, National Council of Jewish Women and a long-time volunteer at WYES-TV. She was a proud member of Sigma Delta Tau Sorority and served as the president of the Panhellenic Council at Tulane University. Martha loved her weekly mahjong games with friends and supporting Tulane athletics.

In later years she thoroughly enjoyed a second career with Gulf Coast Bank. A special thanks to the entire GCB team for their continued friendship, care and concern.

Martha is survived by her children Alan Sands, Marc Sands (EllenAnn), Lee Sands (Jennifer); grandchildren, Schuyler Sands, Sam Sands (Tiffany), Michael Sands and Anya Sands; great granddaughter, Ella Sands; her long-standing, caring friend, Melissa Jackson; and many nieces, nephews and life-long friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack Sands; her parents, Sam Rosen and Fannye Brandt Rosen; her brother, Aaron Rosen and sister, Phyllis Rosen Herman.

A graveside service for immediate family only will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Anshe Sfard Cemetery, Rabbi Yossi Nemes officiating.
