Mrs. Parker was born and raised in Springfield, Missouri, where she attended Drury University. She came to New Orleans in 1952 with her dear friend, O’Dell Milling Christian, and was then employed by Ochsner Clinic. She was the Director of Volunteers and chairman for the Junior Volunteer program at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. She was a member of the Junior League, a former board member at the Home & Rehabilitation Center and the Orleans Club. For many years, she volunteered for the Historic New Orleans Collection.
She is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Blanc Airey Parker. Survivors include her sons, Blanc A. “Chip” Parker, Jr. (Dianna) of Springfield, Missouri, H. James Parker (Rhonda) of New Orleans, her daughter, Claudia Parker Young (Noel) of Scottsdale, Arizona, her grandchildren Trey, Ashley and Nicholas Parker of Springfield, Missouri, Devin and Amelie Young of Scottsdale, Arizona, and her brothers, James H. Kidd of Springfield, Missouri and Frank W. Kidd of Kansas City, Missouri.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral services at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA, on Monday, August 3, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will be on Monday, August 3, 2015 from 11:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home.
