Lynne P. Taylor gained her Golden Wings on Sunday, November 29, 2020 at 4:36 a.m. A native of New Orleans, Louisiana, Lynne was born to the late Maurice F. Parent, Sr. and Alice Kravet Parent. She grew up in the Irish Channel and graduated from Redemptorist High School in 1950. On February 2, 1963, her 27th birthday, she married the love of her life, Reynold L. “Zac” Taylor, Sr. Together they shared 26 extraordinary years of marriage until his passing in April of 1989.
Lynne was known as “Dee-Dee” not only to her 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, but also to the students at Primary School in New Orleans East, where she worked as an aide with the 3 and 4 years old classes and also cooked for the school.
Lynne lived most of her life in New Orleans East until losing her home to Hurricane Katrina. She then relocated to south Lake Charles, after a brief stay with family in Lafayette. She adored her house in the country where she lived until Hurricanes Laura and Delta.
Lynne had a true zest for life and loved her city! From Mardi Gras and Saints games to KC Hall dances and the casinos, she always enjoyed parties and gatherings with family, friends and even strangers. She was an avid card players and skilled at crocheting. Above all else, she was a devoted, proud and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all.
Lynne is preceded in death by her loving husband, Reynold L. Taylor, Sr.; her father, Maurice F. Parent, Sr.; mother, Alice Kravet Parent; her sister, Janet P. Sanders and Godson, Greg M. Parent.
Loving mother to her son, Reynold L. Taylor, Jr.; her daughter, Michelle T. Welch; proud grandmother to her 2 granddaughters, Ashley T. Pinch (Aaron) and Shelby Welch; her grandson, Zachary L. Taylor; and great-grandmother to Harper, Dax and Maggie, who were her world.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass to be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124 on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a rosary service at 11:30 a.m. until Mass. Interment will follow Mass at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
