Luis Rafael Sosa

Luis Rafael Sosa, 92, passed away at his home in Gretna, LA on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Luis was born in Havana Cuba and immigrated to the United States in 1962. He was a resident of Gretna since 1963 where he worked as an electrical engineer for Warren Moses Consulting Engineers and President of Spanish American Engineers Inc until his retirement at age 87. He will be missed by his wife of 70 years, Concepcion P Sosa, his children, Luis F Sosa (Patricia), Jose A Sosa (Teri) and Maria S Buras, and numerous grandchildren, (Christopher, Anna, Amanda, Nicolas, Andrea, Cristina, Julia), great-grandchildren and other family members. Luis served as President of the Cuban Club of Professionals and was a member of the LA Engineering Society. Luis was responsible for designing the lighting for many prominent buildings throughout New Orleans including Harrah's Casino, the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, the New Orleans Convention Center, the Intercontinental Hotel, the National World War II Museum and what's now called the Smoothie King Center. Services will be held at 9 AM on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Lake Lawn Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans LA ,70124.
