FRIERSON Louis Lumaghi Frierson, Jr. passed away on Thursday March 5, 2015 at home. Lou was 48 years old and is beloved son of, Ruthie Jones and Louis Lumaghi Frierson, Sr and his brother George Martin Frierson and his nephew, Brice Thomas Frierson. He is the grandson of the late Polly and George S. Frierson, Jr. and Ruth and Martin L. Jones and his step-grandmother Celeste Offutt Frierson and his uncle George Frierson. He is survived by his aunts and uncles, Jackie Derks, Judy Paine (Lincoln), Martin L. Jones, Jr. (Gayle Landt ), Ann Milliner (Denis) and cousins Parke Cooper (Debbie), Shawn Maruri (Jorge de La Macorra) , Adrienne Paine, Rachel Fuller (Graham), Whiton Paine(Archana), Evan Jones (Kirsten), Allison Jones and David Milliner (Christine) and his step aunts and uncles Billy Offutt (Jane Allen), Randy Offutt, Webb Offutt, Maury Offutt and his step-cousins, Jane Scott Hodges (Philip), King Offutt (Grandison), Matt Reeves (Lisa) and other loving family and friends. Lou graduated from Marvelwood School in Cornwall, CT. and received the English prize at graduation. He attended Hampden Sydney and Tulane Universities and studied at the Columbia College Film and Video School of Chicago. While living in New Orleans, Chicago and Atlanta, Lou worked in video production, broadcasting and documentaries. Lou was larger than life to all who knew him. With his huge smile, towering at 6’5” he was referred to affectionately as “little Lou” by his family and friends both near and far. He will be remembered for his kind and generous heart and his witty sense of humor. He adored his family and friends always showing them support and love. He shared his faith, spirituality and his passion for the outdoors and travel with his mother, father, brother and Godson, Brice. It has been said that the heart and mind are the true lens of the camera. And if that is true, Lou's body of work is a reflection of the beauty and love that he saw in the world, and more importantly what he wanted to share with those who were close to him. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a funeral service at St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church, 1545 State Street, on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at 3:00pm. Visitation at church Thursday at 1:30pm until service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church, NOCCA (New Orleans Center for Creative Arts), 2800 Chartres St, New Orleans, LA 70117, or the charity of your choice.
