Lok Yin Philomena Chan

She was preceded in death by her parents, Kai Tse and Sou Ying Hung and her sister, Wai Yin Choy (husband: Chuen Sang Choy).

Lok Yin is survived by her beloved children, Michael Chan (wife: Jessica Ng) and Belinda Chan Truong (husband: Jeffrey Truong); sisters, Yuen Yin Tse, Lillian Poon (husband: Paul), and Cynthia Ho (husband: William); brothers, Chung Yun Tse (wife: Po Chun Chau), Andrew Tse (wife: Nancy), and Chung Chi Tse (wife: Winnie); two grandchildren, Bodhi Michael Truong and Jillian Jacqueline Truong; nieces, Anita Yeung, Sammi Tse, Rowena Tse, Stephanie Kua, and Eda Tse; and nephews, Godfrey Yeung, Simon Tse, Christopher Tse, Stephen Choy, Raymond Poon, Jason Poon, and Patrick Ho.

Lok Yin was born in Hong Kong, Hong Kong on August 19, 1947. In 1971, she immigrated to New York City in the United States. In New York, she worked for Kam Man Supermarket from 1974 until her retirement in 1998. She loved her job and her colleagues, and was a devoted customer service representative and cashier. In 1998, she moved to Louisiana, where she remained a resident of Jefferson Parish until her passing.

Lok Yin was a member of the New Orleans Chinese Baptist Church in Kenner. She was a foodie, and enjoyed travelling around the world. She loved Chinese drama, Cantonese opera, doing volunteer work, playing Mahjong, and partaking in missionary trips. She was also very keen with managing money and frugalness.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Mr. Shung Kwok Chiu, Dr. David Lee, New Orleans Chinese Baptist Church, the doctors and nurses at West Jefferson General Hospital, and Ochsner for their care and support.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, February 10, 2023 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM. The visitation will resume the following day at the New Orleans Chinese Baptist Church, 3413 Continental Dr. in Kenner, Louisiana, on Saturday, February 11, 2023 beginning at 10:00AM. The funeral service will begin at 11:00AM with Pastor Wang Jinjiang officiating.
