Lois Claire Landry passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the age of 90. Lois was born in Franklin, LA. At an early age, her family moved to New Orleans where she spent the remainder of her life.
The daughter of Norman Peter Landry, Sr. and Reneé Marie Coycault. Lois had one brother, Norman Peter Landry, Jr.
Lois was a graduate of John McDonogh High School and St. Mary’s Dominican College. She was also a member of the Musicians Union. Lois played the accordion and entertained at private parties and conventions. She was a teacher of the deaf at Chinchuba Oral School in Marrero for some forty years. After retiring in May of 2001, Lois spent the remainder of her life in her four room shotgun house, which to her liking, contained art-filled walls, some of which were her own paintings of varied colors. Peace and quiet was the atmosphere felt by all who entered there.
Lois is survived by her nephew, Mark D. Landry (Nathalie); niece, Reneé L. Chipman (Kevin); nephew, Michael N. Landry (Anne); and several extended family members.
Relatives and friends are invited to a gathering held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124 on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. A private burial will follow.
