Kenneth V. Ward, Sr. passed away on September 3, 2017 at the age of 98. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary Early Ward; daughter, Kathleen Ward Stuckey; parents, Isabel Vignes Ward and Charles Pierce Ward; and brothers, Charles Pierce Ward, Jr. (Dorothy Walker) and James Montgomery Ward. He is survived by his son, Kenneth V. Ward, Jr. (Constance); daughter, Susan K. Ward; and son-in-law, Dr. Thomas C. Stuckey, Sr. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Tania Ward Vining (Paul), Jennifer Ward Gremillion (Pierre), Brent Ward (Sandi), Lauren Ward Fostel (Clay), Kara Stuckey Doherty (Alan), Aimee Stuckey Kilchrist (Jason), Dr. Thomas C. Stuckey, Jr. (Becky), and Ryan Ward Rivet (Lauren); twenty one great grandchildren, Alexandra, Jack, Nicholas, Benjamin, Gabriel, Lucas, Stella, Lola, Sophie, Michael, Ava, Kathleen, Connor, Hannah, Isabel, Lucy, Amelie, Caroline, Ella, Finnegan, and Greyson; and first cousins, Br. Thomas A. Ward, FSC and John E. Ward. Mr. Ward proudly served in WWII in the U. S. Army as a Chief Warrant Officer in the 77th Railroad Battalion in the European Theatre from 1941-1946. He married Rosemary Early Ward on May 31, 1943 at St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans, La. He and his new bride were stationed at Camp Scott near Fort Wayne, Indiana prior to leaving for Europe. Following his war service, he worked for the Veterans Administration and assisted in executing the education benefits of the GI Bill to the veterans in New Orleans, La. His military uniform is displayed as a permanent exhibit in the WWII Museum in New Orleans, La. He took advantage of the GI Bill and attended Loyola University Law School from 1950-1953. He received his Law Degree from Loyola University in New Orleans and was a practicing attorney for 60+ years. He was a lifelong New Orleans resident who grew up uptown and attended Alcee Fortier High School. He was a history buff and was a voracious reader and could discuss any period of history with ease. He was devoted to his family and was an avid Saints fan. He attended the first Saints game in Tulane Stadium with his son Kenneth, Jr. One of his happiest moments was witnessing the Saints Super Bowl Victory! He and his wife of 70 years, Rosemary, loved to travel nationally and internationally; however, their greatest joy was entertaining their family and friends in their home in Lake Vista. They were well known in their parish, St. Pius X and attended Mass regularly. Having been married at St. Louis Cathedral, they observed the celebratory tradition with other couples married at St. Louis Cathedral at the annual mass. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 6666 Spanish Fort Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 1:00PM. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 11:30AM. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery at All Saints Mausoleum.
