Josephine Adragna Hemenway, age 104, and a resident of Folsom, LA, passed away on March 12, 2015 in Covington, LA. Ms. Hemenway was a parishioner of St. Christopher the Martyr Catholic Church, Metairie, for over 60 years. She served as treasurer of the church’s St. Vincent DePaul Society. She and her late husband founded the church’s Senior Citizens’ Club. They were also recipients of The Order of St. Louis IX Medallion. She was an active member of the Holy Name Society and Mission Rosary Makers. She was preceded in death by her parents Guiseppe (Joseph) Adragna and Frances R. Adragna Schambra, her husband Charles W. Hemenway, one son, Reverend Richard F. Hemenway, sisters, Anna Adragna and Nancy Lucia, and brothers, Melchior “Mike” Adragna and William Adragna. She is survived by one son, Charles J. (Pat) Hemenway, one brother, Nicholas (Colleen) Schambra and one sister-in-law, Rita A. Adragna, grandchildren: Charles S., Curtis S., Cullan S. (Leslie), Stephen J. Roppolo( Leslie), John C. Roppolo II (Rachel), and Richard T. Roppolo; great-grandchildren: Nick, Ben, and Madison Hemenway, Sophie, Meg, Ellie, Miles, Chela, Augie, and Thea Roppolo, and a host of nieces and nephews. Ms. Hemenway’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Forest Manor Nursing Home and St. Catherine’s Hospice for their loving and professional care. A visitation will be held from 12pm-2pm on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home with a Memorial Mass to follow at 2pm in the chapel with Father Frank Candalisa officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Christopher the Martyr Catholic Church, Metairie preferred. Arrangements entrusted to Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home.
