Joseph Saverio Ascani, Jr.

Joseph Saverio Ascani Jr., lovingly known as Joe, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on November 12, 1953, in Asheville, North Carolina, Joe was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many with his kindness and unwavering loyalty.

Joe was the cherished son of Joseph and Georgette (Ankesheiln) Ascani. He is survived by his beloved children: Jennifer (Wesley) Matheny, Tiffany Ascani, Theresa (Regan) Ascani Lewis and Joseph (Marissa) Ascani III, as well as his treasured grandchildren, Isabelle, Morgan, Emma, and Sarah. Joe was known for his deep love for his family and enjoyed spending quality time with them, especially on their yearly trips to the beach where laughter and cherished memories were made.

As the middle of five siblings, Joe’s bond with his family members—Joanne, Karen, Mike, and Gerard—was a source of comfort and strength throughout his life. He valued family above all and was always there to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.

Joe found solace in his faith and was dedicated to his church. His strong character, passionate opinions, and commitment to being a man of action defined a life well-lived. He will be remembered for his powerful presence and the warmth he brought into the lives of everyone around him.

A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM, followed by a Funeral Mass at 2:00 PM with interment at Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
