Born August 9, 1926, in New Orleans, Louisiana, he was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Slidell, La. John was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he proudly served throughout the South Pacific during WWII. He was a retired executive of Southern Savings Bank.
John is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Mary Barbara Miret Hanlon; his son John L. Hanlon, Jr. (Deborah), his daughter Sharon Hanlon Canzoneri (Barry), and his late daughter Maureen Hanlon McCullough, his grandchildren Bonnie McCullough, Shelly McCullough, Daniel Hanlon, Casey Hanlon, the late Christopher "Moose" Hanlon, and his Great-Grandson, Payten Bambarger. He was also survived by his sister Patricia Hanlon O'Brien, niece Kathleen E. O'Brien, and nephew, the late Theodore "Bubby" O'Brien.
He was preceded in death by his parents John Hanlon and Gladys Fischer Hanlon.
Services will be held Friday January 18, at St Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church in Slidell, LA. Family and friends are invited for visitation at 10:00 AM, followed by a mass at 12:00 Noon. Internment will be at St. Roch #2 NOLA following the mass.
