Joan "Gan" Hart

Joan Mitchell Hart passed away on October 24, 2022 surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her mother, Louise Mitchell, her beloved husband to whom she had been married to for 57 years, Joseph A. Hart (2014), and her loving son, Marc Joseph Hart (2000).

Joan is survived by her loving daughter, Erin M. Hart and son-in-law Danny Young, daughter-in-law, Cyndi Hart. Grandchildren Christopher Marc Hart, Michel Hart Lepre (Nathan Lepre), and Kyle Gunnar Young. Great grandson Josiah Marc.

Joan attended Holy Angels High School, graduating in 1953. She and her classmates met monthly for lunch until recently. She was very proud to sing in choirs most of her life, beginning at age 16. She joined choirs in every city she resided. In 1989 she returned to New Orleans and sang with the choir at St. Philip Neri for 22 years before moving to Covington. She was very proud of her children and their accomplishments. Her children and grandchildren were everything to her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Mass on Friday October 28, 2022 at 11:00 at St. Pius Pius X Church, 6666 Spanish Fort Blvd., New Orleans, Louisiana 70124. Visitation will begin at 10 until Mass at 11. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in her name to your favorite charity.
