Born in Jackson, Mississippi, she lived in New Orleans for the past 60 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of New Orleans.
Jimmie is preceded in death by her husband, Hank Oleaga, and her son, Kenny Bowen. She is survived by her children, Frankie Washburn of Dallas, Texas, Christie Oleaga of New Orleans, Louisiana, and John Oleaga of Sydney, Australia; son in laws Jeff Juneau, John Washburn, and daughter in law, Kaneez Hakim; grandchildren, Chuck Washburn, John Washburn, Jr., Jennifer Bishop, Michael Juneau, James Juneau, Elias Oleaga, Lailah Oleaga; and 12 great-grandchildren, David Washburn, Caroline Washburn, Ainsley Washburn, Presley Washburn, Abby Washburn, Claiborne Washburn, Jackson Washburn, Nathaniel Washburn, William Bishop, Bailey Bishop, Johnathan Bishop, and Max Bishop all of Dallas, Texas.
In her early career days, Jimmie was a hairstylist at John Jay Salon, but eventually devoted her time to raising children and grandchildren. Also known as “The Mary Poppins of Lakeview,” she often was “Nanny” for other families when her children were grown.
A true beauty inside and out, Jimmie was loved by all who knew her for her quick wit, her never ending sense of fun, and her extremely kind and generous heart.
She will live on forever in our hearts and memories.

Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, November 3, 2018 beginning at 10:00 am at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 pm. Interment will take place in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
