Jean Meric Guidry, age, 86 years, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016. She is the former wife of the late Clarence Rodney Guidry. Loving mother of Kathy Kuhn Russo (Mike) of Metairie, LA, Karole Coleman (Bob), of Klein, TX and Wilder Meric Kuhn of Las Vegas, NV. Devoted grandmother, affectionately Woodworth Meric known as Gammie to her four grandchildren: Joseph M. Russo, Kellie J. Russo, Douglas M. Coleman and Zachary A. Coleman and one great grandchild. Also, survived by her brother, Albert L. Meric, Jr. (Joan) of Loudon, TN and several nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Albert Louis Meric, Sr. and Bernyce Woodworth Meric. A native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Metairie, LA for many years. She was a graduate of the Louise S. McGehee School and attended junior college in New York. She served as queen of the ball for the Krewe of Olympians in 1950. She was active in Republican Party politics and served as past president of the Greater New Orleans Republican Women’s Club and the East Jefferson Republican Women’s Club. She was a volunteer on numerous political campaigns. She was devoted to her cat, Gigi. She was an inspiration to all and adored her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to travel, play bingo and fish. She was always ready to help when needed and will be missed by many. The family would like to thank the staff of Jefferson Healthcare for the care provided over the years. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the Chapel of Lakelawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in All Saints Mausoleum.
