James “Jay” Culotta, II joined our Loving Father on December 1, 2021 at his home in Ponchatoula, LA at the age of 68. A native of Metairie, LA, Jay was born to the late Winifred “Jeanne” Culotta and James J. Culotta. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Sybil “Richelle” Culotta Hecker (survived by Bobby).
Jay is survived by his beloved daughter, Jennifer Culotta Baiamonte (Brandon) and was the proud grandfather of Jude Nathaniel Baiamonte. He is also survived by Jennifer’s mother, Gloria Summerlin Culotta and stepchildren, Eric Campo (Anne), Michael Campo (Sherry), Robert Campo (Stacy), and Kathy Campo Lemoine (Rodney).
Jay was a graduate of De La Salle High School and attended Tulane University. Jay was a builder/developer in the construction industry for many years. He was a true man of faith and had a great love for his country. He was considered a true patriot. He was a former member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, serving as the Public Affairs Officer of the Grapevine Flotilla 5-11. He was also a former member of the Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans, and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate).
Jay had a passion for photography, playing the piano, reading scripture, and loved book editing. At the time of his passing, he was heavily involved with editing a book that a good friend is currently writing. Above all, he cherished time spent with family, especially with his grandson, Jude.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass to be held in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70124 on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until Mass. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum.
