He was preceded in death by his father, James F. Bachemin, Sr.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Lois Bentz Bachemin; two children, Kevin James Bachemin (Sarah) and Melanie Anne Sharp; four grandchildren, Preston Sharp, Maddie Sharp, Keira Bachemin, and Sophia Bachemin; mother, Beverly Yuratich Bachemin; sister, Jamie Shultz (Milton); nephew, Craig Shultz (Jaime); and nieces, Aimee Miller (Jeremy) and Ashley Miller (Christopher). He is also survived by five great nieces and nephews.
Jim was born in New Orleans on September 14, 1948. He graduated from Chalmette High School and attended L.S.U. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he obtained the rank of sergeant. Jim began his career with South Central Bell, where he was an engineer. He retired in 2018 after 45 years of dedicated work, and was a member of their Pioneers Club.
Jim was a parishioner of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. He enjoyed Mardi Gras, and was a member of the Krewes of Zeus and Excalibur, reigning as King Excalibur XIV in 2015. Jim also appreciated photography. Most of all, he loved and adored his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 2:00PM. A visitation will take place at the funeral home beginning at 12:00PM. The interment will follow the Mass at All Saints Mausoleum.
