Jacqueline Steinberg Hochberg

Born in New Orleans in 1918, Jackie, as she was affectionately known, graduated from Isidore Newman School in 1934 and went on to earn a degree in Art History from Ohio State University in 1938. She married David R. Hochberg in 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Together they forged a life in Miami Beach, Florida, where they established the Sea Isle Hotel.

Jackie enjoyed playing golf and was an avid bridge player and achieved the rank of Life Master. Jackie enjoyed early dinners with her children and grandchildren and had a passion for travel. With her adventurous spirit, she took her family on countless unforgettable cruises, visiting over 30 countries and creating lasting memories with her loved ones. She was a Founder of Mount Sinai Medical Center Miami Beach.

Jacqueline's legacy lives on through her devoted daughter, Carol, and son-in-law, Dr. Alvin Merlin. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Ashley and her husband Scott, David and his wife Erin; her great-grandchildren Julian, Samuel, and Corrine. She was loved by her entire extended family, including Max and Elise, her devoted nieces and nephews Linda, Sandy, Marcia and Morris and their families, as well as numerous adoring relatives across four generations.

Jacqueline now reunites with her late husband, David R. Hochberg and her son Miles, her brother Julian Steinberg, and her sister Charlotte Gottesman, who preceded her in death.

A graveside burial ceremony was held on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Dispersed of Judah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made to Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Temple Sinai in New Orleans or a charity of your choice.
