Jacqueline. M. (Jackie) Burke passed away peacefully at home October 4, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in New Orleans on January 27, 1929 to the late Eugene B. Meyer and Adele Boulet Meyer and was the step-daughter of the late Blanche B. Meyer. Jackie grew up in the Irish Channel attending Our Lady of Good Counsel Elementary and High School. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, the late Cecelia and Victor Hoffman and had a special cousin, the late Eugenie Hoffman. She was married to the late Gerard H. Burke, Sr. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Eugene M. Meyer, Sr. (Lilly) and Melvin P. (Pete) Meyer (Josie). Jackie is survived by her loving step-daughter, Judith A. Burke and step-son Gerard H. Burke, Jr. Jackie worked in the Finance Department at New Orleans City Hall and then the Internal Revenue Service as a Taxpayer Assistant, retiring from there after 30 years of service. Jackie loved road trips throughout the United States, visiting many National Parks, and enjoyed relaxing at her summer house in Waveland, MS. She enjoyed Mardi Gras, riding in the Krewe of Venus, as well as the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Her most favorite pastime was visiting casinos in New Orleans, the Gulf Coast, Las Vegas and elsewhere. Jackie lived in Metairie LA for the last 51 years and was a faithful parishioner of St. Angela Merici Parish. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Mass at St. Angela Merici Church, 901 Beverly Garden Dr., Metairie, LA on Monday October 10, 2022. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am followed by Mass at 12:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, Masses are preferred or a donation to the Retirement Fund of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, P.O. Box 227275, Dallas, TX. 75222.
