He is survived by his wife, Sandra Green Teal. He is preceded in death by his brother Donald; and his parents, Minnie M. and Hugh Albert Teal.
He was born on December 23, 1928 in Oak Park, IL, west of Chicago. He attended Lutheran Grammar School and Main High School. He chose Electrical Engineering and specialized in Electronics for his college field at the University of Illinois in Champaign, IL.
After graduation, employment opportunities were with large companies. His long and successful career was with Bell Aircraft. Then in the early 80’s, in New Orleans with Martin Mariette at Michoud. It was there where he worked on the space aircrafts.
He enjoyed many vacation trips to European scenic cities with good friends. Local enjoyable trips included his favorite, the outer banks of North Carolina. He had very high character traits, being a dependable, learned, honorable, conservative fair gentleman and upstanding in all regards; an all-around good citizen.
He worked on gyroscope navigation system for Bell’s Hoover Craft vehicle. For Martin Aerospace, Hugh contributed to the precise construction of the space launch propulsion engine. He developed a satisfied program to assure the adequate thickness of insulation on the booster rocket.
Hugh also enjoyed sailing on Lake Pontchartrain and Gulf waters. His sailboat “Fortuna” was frequently used with friends as passengers, Hugh as captain and Elliot as crew.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral services to be held at The Lutheran Church of the Galilean, 3404 US-51, Laplace, LA 70068 on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 11:30 am. Visitation at church will begin at 10:00 am. A private inurnment will be held at All Saint’s Mausoleum in New Orleans, LA.
