Henry Victor Orgeron, Jr. born February 17, 1935 passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024. He was a proud graduate of St Aloysius High School. He also graduated from Spencer Business College and continued his education with a Bachelor's of Business Studies degree from Tulane University. Henry was a Certified Internal Auditor. He served his country for 10 years in the United States Air Force.
He was Internal Auditor for the Jefferson Parish School Board and retired after 25 years of dedicated service. He was a past President of the Institute Internal Auditors and also Association of Government Accountants. Henry was also a tax preparer and bookkeeper. He started Orgeron Business Services, and had a very special relationship with all his clients. Henry was heavily involved in the Credit Union Movement. He was a past President of Jefferson Parish School Board Employees Credit Union and Louisiana Central Credit Union, until recently when his health began to decline. He was a proud member of Krewe of Endymion, Irish Channel Marching Club, and TAK Fraternity Mens Club, as well as a parishioner of Holy Name of Mary Church. He always looked forward to his yearly visit to Manresa Retreat House, to take care of his spiritual needs.
Henry loved to smoke cigars, travel and see the world. He enjoyed cruising, fishing, dancing and having his weekly jaunts with his friends at the neighborhood bars. One of his favorite things he looked forward to was the annual family Gulf Shores beach trip with his children and grandchildren. Henry was an original Saints Season ticket Holder. He was extremely proud to be recognized at the 50th anniversary celebration. His name is displayed on the monument outside the Superdome honoring those original active season ticket holders. Henry led a very active social life before his health started to decline. A special thanks to son in law, George Chauvin, for all his help and always being just a phone call away during Henry's time of need.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry V. Orgeron, Sr. and Agnes Juno Orgeron; son, Gary Michael Orgeron; sister, Louvinia Orgeron Sutherland.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rose Veron Orgeron; daughters, Karen Orgeron Chauvin (George), Lisa Emenes Neathamer (Ricky), Melanie Emenes Richards, and Dana Emenes Jones (Billy) ; sons, Keith Orgeron ( Susan), Terrence Orgeron; grandchildren, Vanessa Orgeron, Connor Chauvin (Morgan), Carson Chauvin, Cooper Chauvin, Christina Jourdan (Matt), Celeste Albert (Blake), Rachel Neathamer, Ashley Neathamer, Carley Roberts ( Michael), and Leah Frase (Drew); great-grandchildren, Dean Chauvin, Maddocks Londot, Forrest Jourdan, Sawyer Albert, Wyatt Roberts, Cecilia Roberts; sister-in-law, Janie Pettite; one niece and nephew.
Services will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd New Orleans, LA 70124. Visitation will begin at 11:00AM followed by a Mass at 1:00PM. Interment will be at Lake Lawn Park.
