Harold E. Theard, Jr.

Harold E. Theard Jr. passed away peacefully on September 4, 2021; he was 76. Harold was born in New Orleans on Dec. 19, 1944. He graduated from De La Salle High School, received his Bachelor of Business Studies from Tulane University, and earned his law degree from Loyola University. He was a member in good standing of the Louisiana Bar Association for 50 years. His legal career was mainly as corporate in-house counsel, most notably with Chart House, Combined Equities, Newport Enterprises, and Blanchard & Co.

He was preceded in death by his parents, (NOPD) Capt. Harold E. Theard Sr. and Doris Fletcher Theard, both of New Orleans. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Bonnie Fullmer Theard; sons, Bradley (Michelle) and Gregory (Valerie); five grandchildren: Lillian, Lucas, Helen, James, and Julia; one sister, Darryl Anne (Clarence) McClellan; and three nieces: Hope Thayer, Christine Diaz, and Amy Krawiec.

The family wishes to thank nurse Mary Knieper of the East Jefferson Hospital Critical Care Unit (CCU) for her dedicated care during his last days.

Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, (504) 486-6331, on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 11:00AM. A memorial Mass will be held in the Chapel at the funeral home beginning at 12:00PM. The interment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum in Metairie Cemetery.
