Frederick "Pete" J. Hebert

Frederick Joseph “Pete” Hebert passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 8, 2022. Pete was born in Lafayette, LA and spent his youth fishing and hunting all over south Louisiana, primarily in the Houma area where his grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins resided. Growing up in Metairie, Pete attended St Christopher, Metairie Jr. High, St Stanislaus, and East Jefferson High School. Pete completed school and joined the United State Navy in 1961. He spent 9 years proudly serving his country, rising to the rank of Aviation Electrician Mate First Class (AE-1) while serving on the USS Midway, USS Coral Sea, and USS Hancock aircraft carriers in the Viet Nam campaign. In 1970, Pete joined Gerhardt’s Inc and spent the next 42 years working in the industrial services industry. His technical expertise afforded him the opportunity to meet hundreds of people and visit works sites across the world. His work ethic and integrity were a hallmark of his drive and determination to be successful in his chosen field of work.

In 1963, Pete married the love of his life, Kathryn “Kathy” Boudoin. Their 58-year marriage was a testament of devotion and commitment that was admired by all family and friends.

Pete is preceded in death by his father, Richard J. Hebert, Sr, his mother Anna Mae Hebert, his son, Barry Steven Hebert Sr, and his granddaughter Molly Rebecca Hebert. He will be sadly missed by his wife Kathy Hebert, his son Brian Hebert (Jennifer), his brother Richard “Dickie” Hebert, Jr (Carol), his grandchildren Ashton Blancher (Samantha), Barry Steven Hebert, Jr, Remy Hebert, Kylyn Hebert, and Landon Hebert, and his great-grandchildren Cameron Owens, Ellie Owens, and Addilyn Blancher. In addition, Pete’s larger than life personality, as well as his eternally giving nature, will be greatly missed by scores of close family and friends that he retained throughout his life.

Relatives and friends of Pete and his family are invited to join in funeral services on Monday June 13th at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Ponchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, LA. Visitation will start at 11:00am with a Catholic Mass to follow at 1:00pm. Internment at the Lake Lawn Mausoleum will follow directly after the mass. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in kind to The Gary Sinise Foundation.
