Evans Joseph Blanchard passed away peacefully on Saturday, Agust 12, 2016 at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Florsia Blanchard; his father, Nolan Blanchard; mother, Hilda Albarado Malone; his daughter, Dawn Blanchard Garraway Power and a great-grandson, Chase Evans Mandeville. He is survived by his two daughters, Robbie Pittman (Thomas) and Melissa Brown (Jeff Moore); five grandchildren, Monique Watson (Brian), Michelle Mandeville (James), Kim Brown, Jr. (Lauren), Ryan Garraway and Colleen Garraway; three great-grandchildren, Bryce Mandeville, Waylon James and Emma James; five step-grandchildren, Nicole Pittman, Amanda Pittman (Heatherly Hill), Victoria Mohammad (Hussien), David Garraway (Jenny), Michael Garraway; and his step-great grandson, Brandt Watson. Evans was born in Donaldsonville, Louisiana and graduated from Redemptorist High School. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his service, he attended Tulane University. Evans was a retired bank officer and accountant and continued keeping himself busy with accounting until shortly before his death. He was also a member and officer of the St. John Golf Club for many years and loved traveling the country playing golf with his wife before her death. Evans was a kind and gentle man with many friends and family who will miss him dearly. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Memorial Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans on Friday, August 18, 2017 at 2:00 PM.
