Elenora P. Turner, on Friday, March 24, 2017 at LifeCare Hospital in Plano, TX died of congestive heart failure. She was 83. Mrs. Turner was a lifetime resident of New Orleans before hurricane Katrina, and in 2005 she relocated to Wylie, Texas. She was a graduate of Joseph S. Clark High School and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Southern University of New Orleans, Summa Cum Laude. She taught at James D. Lewis Elementary School located in the Irish Channel, Henderson H. Dunn Elementary located in the old Desire Housing Project and Village D'Lest Elementary School in Michoud. Survivors include her daughters, Bridgette Turner of Las Vegas, NV and Stephanie Turner of Wylie, TX; step-son, Eric (Tasha) Turner of Wylie, TX; son-in-law, Kemis Darensbourg of Wylie, TX; two sisters, Janice “JP” (Willie) Thomas and Vadie P. Nelson of LaPlace, LA; two grandchildren, Tiffany Coleman of Wylie, TX and Ronald (Ava) Coleman of Metairie, LA; her five great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren and brother-in-law, Isaac Delandro. She was preceded in death by her parents Alphonse Payton, Sr. and Marguerite Rheams Payton and step-mother Louise Brown Payton; her daughter, Sandra Turner; her brothers, Alphonse, Jr., Nathaniel, Richard, Larry and Ralph Payton; her sister, Naomi P. Delandro and great-granddaughter, Trinity Coleman.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11a.m. at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA; Visitation will begin at 10am.
