Dorothy Martin Smith (Dot) born on November 16th, 1921 passed away peacefully Wednesday September 20, 2017 at age of 95. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Agnew (Smitty) E. Smith. Daughter of the late Horace and Myra Martin, sister of the late Horace, Jr and John Edward Martin. Known to many as Mawmaw and Aunt Dot, she leaves to cherish her memory William H Smith (Joy), Myra Nell Smith and Janet Smith, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lawrence and Mary Smith, grand-daughters, Karen Davis (John), Leslie Buebela (Bert), Kristin Taylor, Sarah T. Aucoin (Nicholas), and grandson Andrew DeAbate (Julia), great-grandchildren Avery and Addison Davis and Paige and Will Buebela. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends, whose lives she has touched and inspired. Dorothy is a member of Metairie Baptist Church where she was active in church activities until last year. Dot was a member of Bromeliad Clubs, Greater New Orleans Iris Society and the Southeast Louisiana Daylily Society. She volunteered tending gardens at City Park until the age of 93. Mawmaw worked as a Real Estate agent but her most memorable achievements were at home and for family and friends. She was a fantastic cook, devoted room mother, den mother, Sunday School teacher, and Vacation Bible School teacher. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Services on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd, New Orleans, LA. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
