Dennis Edwin Doredant

Dennis Edwin Doredant, age 70, of Metairie, LA. Son of the late Theodore and Mae Rita Forestier Doredant passed away on September 27, 2024 exactly one week after his 44th wedding anniversary with wife Linda Dickinson Doredant. Dennis also leaves behind his three beautiful daughters, Tracy Doredant Fortunato (Tony), Kelly Doredant Bonney (Mike), Erin Doredant Avants (Johnny) and four grandchildren, whom he liked to annoy and aggravate, but loved dearly, Joshua Michael Doredant, Owen Anthony Fortunato, Ella and Kayla Avants. He is also survived by his “other mother” his aunt Marcella Forestier Strecker, sister-in-law Ann Dickinson Smart (Mike), brother-in-law Roy Dickinson (Violet), his cousins Frank Forestier (Barbara), Susan Forestier Guidry (the late Gerard), Rebecca Forestier Mason (David), and other family and friends. Dennis was a retired refrigeration mechanic who loved hunting and fishing, but he lived and breathed driving tractors in parades since he was 16 years old. He loved letting little kids sit on his tractor and letting them explore the floats. Also a treasure “junk” collector Dennis usually had whatever parts or pieces anyone might need to repair or use for anything.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124 on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with Mass beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, (unless they come from the dumpster behind Winn Dixie), go fishing or hunting with a kid, teach someone to change a tire, or sort some Mardi Gras beads by length and color! Please dress casually, as Dennis didn’t like to dress up.
