Charles Edouard de la Vergne Jr, age 88, died peacefully on January 2nd surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Charles Edouard de la Vergne Sr. and Marcelle Menard de la Vergne. He is survived by his former wife (Margaret Joan de la Vergne) and only son: Charles Edouard de la Vergne III (Ashley), and two grandchildren: Claire Margaret de la Vergne and (expecting) Charles Edouard de la Vergne IV.
Mr. de la Vergne was born in New Orleans, where he was a lifelong resident. A graduate of de la Salle High School, he went on to attend Spring Hill College and Tulane University, where he was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon. Mr. de la Vergne was an avid golfer his entire life, winning the City Championship at Audubon Park Golf Club three times and the Club Championship at New Orleans Country Club once.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 beginning at 10:00 to noon. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery.
