Cecilia Chorro Avalos

Cecilia Chorro Avalos passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the age of 66. Daughter of the late Gabriel Chorro and Maria Josefa Chorro. Beloved wife of 45 years to Jesus Roberto Avalos. Loving mother of Monica Avalos Darcey (Keith) and Maria Jose Avalos Morris (Jason). “Mama Cecy” was a nurturing grandmother to Hannah Gabrielle, Alex Matthew, and Ethan Anthony Darcey. She is also survived by four sisters, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters. Cecilia “Cecy” was born and raised in San Salvador, El Salvador, and has lived in Kenner for the last 36 years. She was a longtime parishioner, member of the Ladies Altar Society, Eucharistic minister, and Liturgical Group member at St. Jerome Catholic Church. Cecilia was a very special wife and devoted mother, who was beautiful, artistic, caring, generous, patient, and kind. She was dedicated to both her family and church. Cecilia will be greatly missed. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 6500 Kawanee Ave. in Metairie, on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 1:30PM.
