C. ELLIS HENICAN, JR., died on Monday, July 6, 2015, at age 81. An attorney in New Orleans for 57 years, he practiced until his death. Born in New Orleans and raised Uptown, he graduated from Jesuit High School, Georgetown University and the Tulane University Law School, where he was a member of the law review. After his five children were grown, he and his wife, the late Patricia McGraw Henican, moved to the French Quarter, his home for the past two decades. He loved the law, had an active practice in the state and federal courts and taught securities regulation at Loyola University College of Law. He served in the U.S. Army, which he did not enjoy as much. He is survived by his children and their spouses, Ellis Henican (Stephanie Carvlin), William Henican, Mary Henican Spangler (John Spangler), Thomas Henican (Tracey Henican) and Michael Henican (Sarah Iiams). He is also survived by his three sisters, Alice Perrier (the late Claude Perrier), Peggy Wilson (Gordon Wilson) and Dorothy Heidingsfelder (Charles Heidingsfelder), and his brother, Joseph Henican (Margaret Henican). He leaves nine grandchildren and 17 nieces and nephews. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, 411 North Rampart. Visitation will begin at the church at 9 a.m. Arrangements are being handled by Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home.
