Audrey Johnston Perkins

Audrey Johnston was born October 2, 1926 in New Orleans to Marguerite and Herbert Johnston. She grew up in Midcity with her two older sisters Shirley and Betty, where her father owned Johnston's Pharmacy. She attended Sacred Heart High School on Canal Street. She married Dr. Warren Perkins Sr. in 1947 and enjoyed 67 years of marriage until his passing in 2014. She was the President of Les Dames de Timberlane from 1976-1977 and the President of the Timberlane Garden Club from 2000 to 2002. She has been a member of the Congregation of St. Cletus Catholic Church since 1972. Audrey was the true matriarch of her family, and possessed a wide circle of beloved friends. She was the world’s most gracious hostess, and loved to play mahjongg, read books, write clever poetry, and dance with her husband.

She is survived by her daughter, Dianne Butler and her son Warren Perkins Jr., as well as her 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Dr. Warren Perkins Sr., 92 (2014), her son Robert “Bob” Perkins, 65 (2019), and her daughter JoAnne "Jody" DeMoss, 59 (2022). She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 7th, 2022, at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Viewing will begin at 11:00AM, followed by a service at 12:00PM.
