Alexander James Roy (“Alex”) passed away peacefully on November 20, 2023. He was born at Southern Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, LA on November 6, 1993. Alex was as gleeful, energetic, and charismatic as a child as he was as an adult. He attended St. Andrew the Apostle School in Algiers for elementary school and graduated from Jesuit High School in 2012. Throughout his childhood and adolescence, he was, above all else, always active: it was hard to keep him still—but that was a blessing to all who knew him. While he had wide-ranging interests in bicycling, skateboarding, and music (to name a few!), he truly excelled on the baseball field. Alex was a proud contributor on Jesuit’s 2011 state championship baseball team as an outfielder. Alex then attended Ole Miss, where he made many lifelong friends from all over the southeast and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. Throughout college, he never lost his high-octane personality and engaging smile that was always the brightest in the room. After earning his Bachelor’s Degree, he moved to Austin, Texas, where he began a successful career in real estate. In 2022, Alex married Danielle Minus, whom he met at Ole Miss. Their unforgettable wedding in Scotland took place in a storybook castle setting. Danielle’s kindness, grace, and patience were a blessing in Alex’s life. In his adult life, Alex’s many hobbies included golf, fitness, horology, and his beloved dog Satchmo. He was highly involved in AA and was a steadfast support pillar to many other young men in Austin who similarly suffered from addiction. His actions in this area spoke louder than words: recently, he began working part-time at a treatment facility. He enthusiastically embraced his role as uncle to Garner and Winnie Roy, who loved him dearly. He is also survived by his parents, Jamie and Peter, his brother Tripp (and wife, Emily), as well as his maternal grandmother Barbara Bordelon—to say nothing of his large extended family. Visitation will be held Monday, November 27 at 1:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Church, located at 130 Baronne Street in New Orleans. Mass will follow at 2:00 pm. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Alex’s name to Jesuit High School’s baseball program (attention: Christian Bautista).
