Sharon was born on January 24, 1950. She was the first of four children to Betty Lou (Page) and the late Theodore Perkins. She married the love of her life, Jeffrey Sandstrom, in November 1989. Sharon grew up in Waterford and remained in Southeastern Connecticut, close to family throughout her life. In addition to her husband Jeff, she is also survived by her two sons Thomas Burrows (Kristin) and Timothy Burrows (Becky Hall).
Sharon’s true passion was loving and supporting her five grandchildren: Michael, Hannah, & Ava (Tom and Kristin) and Jared & Maddie (Tim and Becky). You could always find Sharon on the sidelines of a baseball game, softball game, or performing arts events.
Sharon, along with Jeffrey, owned and operated E. Johnson Florist in New London for 21 years. She became an accomplished barista in the florist shop's coffee bar. She also spent some years as a secretary (substitute) for the Waterford Board of Education and in the office of cardiology in Waterford.
The simplest of pleasures in life brought great joy to Sharon. She loved spending a quiet evening and dinner dates with her husband. She loved the beauty of flowers. She could find happiness in her daily life. She loved to spend time at Pequot Beach in New London in the summertime. Sharon enjoyed vacationing in KennebunkPort Maine, Marco Island, and St. Thomas.
Sharon will also be greatly missed by her sister Marcia (Randy) Lipphardt, brother Steven Perkins and sister Nancy (Wayne) Griffin. She will be remembered so fondly by multiple nephews and nieces and goddaughter Lexie Hullivan.
There will be a graveside service Wednesday May 4th at 3:00pm in Jordan Cemetery Boston Post Rd Waterford. Following the service there will be a gathering of friends and family to celebrate and honor Sharon’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to The Connecticut Hospice in Branford.
