Latoya S. Brown-Knight, age 39, of Groton, CT, wife of Daquawn Knight, passed away unexpectedly on March 21, 2022 at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Latoya was born on October 4, 1982 in New London to Sharon and Daniel C. Brown Jr. of Groton, CT. She studied hard and completed her GED and Latoya was then employed as a manager at Chipotle. She was a devoted parishioner of Missionary Church of Groton. She enjoyed dancing, singing, camping, and spent most of her time working or with family. Latoya’s greatest joy in life was her six children and her big, loving family. Latoya will be most remembered for her beautiful smile, one of a kind laugh, her famous mac and cheese, and being the life of the party. She was always able to bring a smile to anyone’s face and draw out a laugh even in the toughest moments.
Latoya is predeceased by Aaron Matthew Brown, George and Delores Wilson, James and Carlivna Pemberton, Daniel Brown Sr., DeBorah Wilson, Debra Starling-Day-Jeanty, as well as her great grandparents.
As well as her parents, Latoya is survived by her sons, Julius Brown, Elijah Johnson, and Caleb Johnson, and her daughters, Tahjanae Knight, Sierra Knight, and Danasia Knight. She will be greatly missed by her brothers, Daniel C. Brown (AKA Ponch), Derrick Brown, and Andre Brown. Latoya cherished her grandson Govanni Green (AKA Sir Monkey Butt). She is also survived by four nieces, five nephews, a host of cousins, aunts, and uncles as well as a large group of close friends and her dogs, Missy, Cash, and Prince.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 1 from 3pm to 7pm at Fulton Theroux Funeral Services located at 181 Ocean Ave., New London.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Madry Temple on Saturday, April 2 at 10am located at 27 Manwaring St., New London.
Latoya’s burial will take place immediately following her Funeral Mass at Colonel Ledyard Cemetery in Groton.
Friends and family are then welcome to gather back at Madry Temple Church immediately after Latoya’s burial for a repass until 4:30pm.
