She was born on April 13, 1959, in New London, the daughter of George Allen, Sr., and Evelyn May (Chapman) Grimes.
She was a school bus driver for the town of Niantic for a few years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved dogs and birds.
Betty is survived by her sons Vernon McDade, Jr. and wife Stefania McDade of New London and Robert McDade, Sr. and his partner Dawn Burgess of Groton; and her adoptive son Patrick Santora, IV and wife Samantha Santora of Groton; her brother George Grimes, Jr., of East Lyme; seven grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. She also has many nieces, nephews, and cousins
She was predeceased by her sisters Karen, Pamela, and Linda Grimes and the love of her life Ellen Bittman.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 14th from noon-2pm followed by a memorial service at 2pm at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London.
