NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Theresa Babineaux Guidry, age 90, at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Fr. Gary Schexnayder will be the celebrant with Fr. Mario Romero as concelebrant. Readers for the Mass will be Kim Guidry and Jon Delahoussaye, with David Guidry and Avery Guidry as Altar Servers. Mrs. Guidry will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Memorial Park Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm with the Men’s Rosary Group leading the Rosary at 11:00 am.
Theresa Guidry was born July 31, 1925 in New Iberia to the late Michael Balthazar Babineaux and the late Anaise Romero Babineaux, and passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2015 with her family at her side.
Mrs. Tee, as she was affectionately known, was a 1943 Graduate of Mt. Carmel Academy. She worked as an operator with Whites Answering Service, with South Central Bell for 12 years, and was a volunteer with Dauterive Hospital for over 35 years. She was also very busy outside of work and offered her time and talents with many organizations. Those include, Mt. Carmel Alumnae Association, Mr. Carmel Mothers Club, past member of the Lions Club, past President of the Lioness Club, Children of Mary, ladies Altar Society of St. Peter’s (where she was a longtime parishioner), A CCD teacher at St. Peter’s, and the Friends of the Shadows. In her spare time, Mrs. Tee also enjoyed scrapbooking, crossword puzzles, crocheting, and bowling.
She leaves behind many fond memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Bonnie Guidry McNeese and husband Wayne McNeese, Sr., Mary Guidry Berry and husband Robert Berry, Sr., Fran Guidry Segura and husband Judge Robert Segura, Sr., David James Guidry and wife Kim Guidry, and William Brent Guidry and wife Dawn Guidry all of New Iberia; 11 grandchildren, Wayne McNeese, Jr., Stephanie McNeese McNeil, Tammy Ronsonet, Michelle Ronsonet, Robert Berry, Jr., Robert Segura, Jr., Lauren Segura Migues, Avery James Guidry, Dillan, Austin and Karleigh Guidry; 11 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Isaac Newton Guidry; and her brothers and sisters, Dalton L. Babineaux, Sr., Claude Babineaux, Sr., Francis Babineaux, Sr., Pat Babineaux, Louise B. Duhon, Celine B. Decoux, and Lucille B. Joynt.
Serving as pallbearers will be Wayne McNeese, Jr., Robert Segura, Jr., Brent Guidry, Dillan Guidry, Austin Guidry and Donald Babineaux. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne McNeese, Sr., Robert Berry, Sr., and Robert Segura, Sr.
