A Memorial Mass for Mrs. Lalande will be celebrated on July 2, 2016 at 1:00 pm at St. Peters Catholic Church with Fr. William Blanda officiating.
Melanie was a resident of New Iberia her entire life. She was a graduate of the class of 1957 at Mount Carmel High School. Melanie then went on to Spencer Business College and graduated December 20th of that same year.
Granny, as Melanie was better known, formerly owned and operated The Velvet Touch Beauty Salon. Some of her pastimes were cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, arts and crafts, and reading the many books in her personal library. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Adrienne Lalande Camacho and Donna Elizabeth Lalande Villagomez of New Iberia; eight grandchildren, Ryan Paul Romero and Jude Michael Camacho and wife Katie all of New Iberia; Amiee’ Hebert and husband Ryan of Youngsville, Megan Lechele Cathey, Steven Andrew Camacho and Brittany Broussard of St. Martinville, and Alexas Nicole Braud and Avery John Camacho; nine great-grandchildren, Mickinzie Blayre, Gabrielle Elizabeth, Noah Lee, Jude Michael, Jr., Paityn Elise, Andrew Thomas, Jonah Joseph, Nylah Jayde, and Sadie Lane; one brother, Michael P. Richard and wife Judi of Houston, TX; one sister, Serena Musso of New Iberia, and a host of nieces, nephews, and their families.
She is preceded in death by her parents. Aristilde and Hazel Richard; and brother, Jude T. Richard.
