It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margie Doucet Ledet, age 70, who left this world peacefully at her residence in St. Martinville, LA, on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Margie was born on June 4, 1954, in St. Martinville, LA, to the late Rufus and Adeline Comb Doucet.
A devout Catholic, Margie was a beloved member of St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church, where she found comfort and strength in her faith. She prayed her rosary numerous times a day, a testament to her deep connection to God. Margie was also an honorary member of the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Auxiliary, always supporting her community in any way she could.
Known for her quick wit and sense of humor, Margie was a true jokester who could bring laughter to any room. But she was equally grounded and wise, always available with a listening ear and the best advice. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel heard and understood, offering support and guidance to friends and family alike.
Margie’s love for the outdoors was evident in the way she cared for her neighborhood. She could often be found picking up trash in the area and lending a helping hand to her neighbors, a reflection of her kind and giving nature. Above all, time spent with her family was the most important to her, and she cherished every moment shared with her loved ones.
Margie will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and love.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 37 years, Adam Ledet, her dear friend, and special daughter, Lisa Cormier; her godchildren, Blair Williams and Malik and her son, Kyrie Francois; Brittney Cormier and her daughter, Aerian Archon, Brooke Gardiner and Toney; Reggie Cormier and Tyasia; special friend Sophie Bonin and Walter Picard and their children, Claire Picard and Gracie Picard; two sisters, Merrill Babin and Leroy and Angelina Hebert; two brothers, Nolan Doucet and Curtis Doucet and Mona. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Evangeline Funeral Home in New Iberia. Deacon Butch Hebert will be the celebrant. Margie will be laid to rest following the service at St. Michael’s Mausoleum in St. Martinville.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 am.
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Heart of Hospice, especially Lana and Dana for all of the exceptional care shown to Margie.
