Lou was born in Donner, Louisiana, and raised in New Orleans. After attending Eleanor McMain High School and Soule Business College, she married the love of her life, Lloyd LoCascio. After her husband’s medical career took them to Lafayette, Louisiana and his military service obligation took them to Vista, California, they returned to New Orleans to raise their family. A devoted mother of six, Lou created a loving home filled with warmth and joy.
Lou enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, fishing with her husband, cooking, and engaging in lively conversations. Known for her skills in the kitchen, she delighted in bringing people together with her good food and “cutting up.” Her vibrant personality and infectious laughter made her the life of every party, creating countless happy memories for all who knew her.
After the passing of her husband, she moved to Lafayette, Louisiana in 2002, where she continued to be a beacon of love and strength for her family.
Lou is survived by her six children: Marlene Zahn, Judy Yamin (Mansour Yamin), Gina Rabalais, Lisa Mouille (Brian Mouille, Sr.), Dr. Lloyd F. LoCascio, Jr. (Cheryl LoCascio), and Dr. Steven J. LoCascio, Sr. (Christl LoCascio); thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and a joie de vivre. Though we mourn her loss, we find comfort in knowing Lou’s spirit will forever live in the hearts of all who loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Felix J. Cancienne and Felicie Babin Cancienne, beloved husband, Dr. Lloyd F. LoCascio, Sr.; grandson, Logan LoCascio; son-in-law, Al Zahn; and siblings, Alden Cancienne, Warren Cancienne, Ethel Buckley, Joseph Cancienne, and Ione Muhs.
Lou's family extends their heartfelt gratitude to The Blake at Lafayette and its extraordinary staff and residence, that made her feel at home. The family also wishes to thank her hospice nurse, Joeann and the staff of Hospice of Acadiana for their compassionate care. Rest peacefully, dear Lou, knowing you are deeply loved and forever remembered.
